CUT! Awkwardness Radiates From LA’s Top Two

There’s hubbub over LA City Council President Eric Garcetti’s appearance tonight as Mayor of Los Angeles on TNT’s The Closer. Judging by the LAist article, Garcetti got the job because his dad, former City Attorney Gil Garcetti, is now a consulting producer. (A good reminder that nepotism runs through every career path.)

But don’t forget current Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa! He and Garcetti were both on All My Children this February. Here’s Tony.

Below, you’ll find that Garcetti’s lines are actually rather apt. When lauding the factory owner for going green, Garcetti replies that “It’s about family.” The factory owner replies: “Well, you don’t have to sell me on the importance of family.”

What with Little Garcetti slotted in on Papa Garcetti’s show, it’s clear all are aware of that fact.

A kind recommendation: Eric, pick up some acting books. Uta Hagen has a lot to say about exiting the stage. A robotic insistence to “Snag that coat! Shake that hand! Walk through that door!” is terribly, terribly awkward.
