It’s Mark Coogan Day! Or was, yesterday. I’m working on a longer post about Lopez Canyon, but in the interim, take heart that June 30, 2010, was MARK COOGAN DAY in the City of Los Angeles.

The newscaster’s official resolution (.pdf here) is pretty standard, but I did enjoy learning that Mr. Coogan “served a short but significant stint as Southern Africa bureau chief of ABC News in Johannesburg, South Africa during that country’s turbulent struggle to negotiate the most basic of human rights with its system of apartheid.”
